The Ash of All Trades sprung from my desire to design and create handcrafted gifts for my friends and family. Over the years, I’ve strived to perfect each item, so that I could experience the joy someone felt when they inhaled deeply from a jar of body butter or when they held a scarf close to their face to feel the softness against their skin. I love to make goods that are about the care, healing and pampering of one’s self. I wanted each gift to let my people know that they were loved and that they could take comfort in these moments and our bond. A huge part of cultivating my home garden came about because I wanted to grow nutritious food for my friends and family and to create healing and aromatic extracts for body care items. Many of these ingredients are included in my current body butter formulations. It can be a slow and arduous process but the end product is so worth it.
It is now my aim to bring that same experience to everyone. I want my customers to know that each item will always be handmade by me from natural ingredients (many of which I’ve also grown). I want my goods to be identified with the safe feeling of home and family. The beeswax that is used in each candle comes from either my own hives or another small/local apiary. All ceramic vessels are handmade by myself or in collaboration with other artists in my community. You can rest assured that every purchase from TAOAT supports small, black owned businesses.
